To Paint a Painting...

So, my wonderful son David is turning 16 soon, and I'd love to be able to give him a store certificate or something, but funds are really tight. So I figured I'd work on something that I hope he'll really appreciate... a small painting from my heart to his :)

What do you think so far? I'm painting it from this photograph:

I think I can do the trees fairly easily, but it's sure difficult trying to get the water to look realistic... but, the fun continues! Hopefully, it'll turn out good :)
