So, as you may or may not know, my precious little Kyle (who is 3!) has recently begun school. He absolutely loves it, and that makes me so happy. He is adorable! He gets so excited to go outside in the morning to wait with me for the bus :)
One of the coolest things is that he brings home these awesome projects that he does in school all the time. Some of these things are just the cutest... especially the "winding" snake hat! So creative! See?
The only problem is that our apartment is very, very small... I even share my room with my two little ones. Kyle's is obviously the car bed, and my little daughter has the crib. The one with the black comforter is mine :) A tight squeeze, but we are doing great!
I do have a shelf, but it is already over crowded lol... it's a window sill/shelf. And it is not an appropriate place for his projects. I've already put several up on the walls, but there are things that can't go up there... like some hats he makes. Besides, I don't want them to get all cruddy on the wall.
Here are some special things I've gotten from some even more special Etsy people! But I digress from the point of this post, lol...
See, I know many of you are Moms... and all of your kids have probably made tons of projects in school... I know I can't keep everything or else I'd be a hoarder, but he's so young, and school's just begun... I want to keep these items safe for a while. Hopefully, one day he'll want to pour over them with his own children.
So I am asking you, my loyal readers, if you have any ideas for keeping his projects safe? Maybe a binder, or a box (which I'm kind of doing now, but still... it seems kind of like I'm just putting it away...) I want to do something that will keep these items nice, and also something where Kyle can (even now) enjoy them.

you can go to home depot or something and find some shelves to hang on your walls to put projects. With hats you can put thumbtacks in the wall and put the back of the hat at the top of the thumbtack. That's what I do. If you need more help let me know!
Jen, what many of my kindergarten parents did is choose the most special papers and art projects and put them in a scrapbook or binder. That way they are organized. If you put the pages in plastic sleeves he can actually sit and look through his "book" One of my parents did this for her children through 3rd grade. It's a great keepsake and you can also add photos , dates and what not.
Jen - Do you have space under your bed? You can get an under the bed plastic container with a lid or slide it under the crib. I have one and it is quite large. I am going to convo you with links.

Scrapbook, I'd say. You can put some items in envelopes, etc. They don't all have to be adhered to the page. He might like to look through it with you to see what he's made. Zach loves looking through his baby scrapbook with me.
I have kept my grandchildren's art in a large art portfolio left over from when one of my stepdaughter's college days. It is like a large envelope, about 24 x 36 inches, open on the long side with a flap top and a handle. Right now it is about 4 inches thick and fits behind one of the chests in my studio. Perhaps the same effect could also be accomplished with a couple pieces of poster board made expandable with cloth and taped.
Oh I am absolutely terrible at this. I just have a great big heap shoved into a drawer that I hope my husband never finds!

I still have my 30 and 27 year olds stuff in a huge envelope in the attic and my 13 year old's things are in a large bin! Sadly we don't think to go back and look at them. I like all the other ideas here about scrapbooking and hanging things with tacks. It is hard with a small space but you might have to pick what to save and what to throw away....so hard!
I store my kids projects in a clear bin. A scrapbook sounds like a nice idea, or to frame a few pieces would be good.
Jen, everyone has such good ideas. Because space is at such a premium at your house, I favor the "artist portfolio" type of affair. You always see them at art fairs where the artist has some work hanging up but many more in the portfolio which you can page through. The items that Kyle makes that have dimention will have to be flattened. If you make this from poster board, Kyle can decorate the outside of it. And it can slip under the crib. Perhaps you could do one for each level of school - removing the old one when the new one appears. Those past years ones could be sealed up and even slid behind a chest of drawers any large piece of furniture. To store, I would slide it into a large garbage bag to keep it dust free.
